Gutter Repair & Cleaning in Rutherford County
Sagging runs, loose hangers, leaking corners and clogged downspouts — fixed properly rather than patched.
We repair systems we didn’t install · Honest assessments
What We Fix
Not every gutter problem needs a new system. A lot of what we see in Murfreesboro is a sound gutter that was installed badly — hangers too far apart, pitch running the wrong direction, one downspout doing the work of three. Those are fixable, and fixing them costs a fraction of replacement.
Sagging runs
Re-hung with hidden hangers at 24-inch spacing and re-pitched toward the outlet. Fascia checked for the rot that usually caused it.
Leaking seams & corners
Old sealant cut out, joint cleaned to bare metal, resealed with a high-grade gutter sealant that stays flexible.
Loose or missing hangers
Spike-and-ferrule hardware replaced with screw-in hidden hangers that hold in fascia the old spikes chewed up.
Clogged downspouts
Cleared from both ends, flow tested, and elbows opened where debris has packed at the transition.
Incorrect pitch
Runs re-set to roughly a quarter inch of fall per ten feet so they drain fully instead of holding standing water.
Poor downspout placement
Additional outlets added where a single downspout is trying to drain too much roof.
Separated end caps
Re-crimped and resealed, or replaced where the metal has fatigued.
Foundation runoff
Extensions or underground tie-ins added so discharge lands well clear of the foundation instead of at it.
Storm damage
Dented, torn or detached sections assessed and documented — often part of a covered insurance claim.
Gutter Cleaning, Done Thoroughly
Cleaning is straightforward work, but there is a meaningful difference between scooping the visible debris and actually restoring flow. We do the second one.
- All debris removed by hand from every run — bagged and hauled, not dropped in the flower beds
- Downspouts cleared from both ends and flow tested with water
- Full-length flush to move fine sediment that scooping leaves behind
- Hangers, seams, end caps and pitch inspected while we’re up there
- Written report of anything we find that needs attention, with photos
- Property left clean, ladder marks and debris cleared
The inspection is the valuable part
Anyone can pull leaves out of a gutter. What you’re actually paying for is somebody competent looking closely at a part of your house you never see. Most of the fascia rot and hanger failure we catch in Murfreesboro gets found during a routine cleaning, two years before it would have become obvious from the ground.
Typical Repair & Cleaning Costs
| Service | Scope | Typical Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Gutter cleaning — single story | Full home, debris hauled, flow tested | $125–$225 |
| Gutter cleaning — two story | Full home, added access difficulty | $200–$375 |
| Re-hang & re-pitch a run | Per run, hidden hangers, corrected fall | $175–$450 |
| Seam or corner reseal | Per joint, cut out and resealed | $85–$180 |
| Downspout clearing | Per downspout, both ends, flow tested | $65–$140 |
| Add a downspout | New outlet, drop and extension | $185–$340 |
| Fascia board repair | Per linear foot, rot removed and replaced | $12–$28 / ft |
| Underground drain tie-in | Per downspout, trenched and piped | $400–$1,100 |
If total repair cost approaches half of replacement cost, we’ll say so. Spending $900 on a system with three years left is not a good outcome for you.

Gutter Repair & Cleaning FAQ
How often should gutters be cleaned in Middle Tennessee?
Twice a year for most Rutherford County homes — once in late spring after the oak and maple drop their seed pods, and once in late fall after the leaves are down. Homes under heavy pine may need a third pass, since needles drop year round rather than in one season.
How much does gutter cleaning cost?
A typical single-story Murfreesboro home runs $125 to $225. Two-story homes run $200 to $375 depending on access and roof pitch. Heavy debris loads or gutters that have not been touched in several years cost more because they take longer and often reveal repairs that need doing.
Can you fix a sagging gutter without replacing it?
Often, yes. Sagging usually means hangers have pulled loose or spacing was too wide to begin with. If the gutter itself is sound and the fascia is solid, re-hanging with hidden hangers at proper 24-inch spacing fixes it. If the fascia behind it has rotted, that has to be addressed first.
Why do my gutters overflow even after cleaning?
Three usual causes: the gutters are undersized for the roof area draining into them, there are too few downspouts, or the run is pitched wrong and holding water. All three are design problems rather than maintenance problems, and none of them get better with more cleaning.
Do you repair gutters you didn’t install?
Yes. Most of our repair work is on systems installed by someone else. We’ll fix what’s fixable and tell you plainly if the system has reached the point where repair money is better spent on replacement.
